Aloe aculeata  from South Africa - with photos

.Both sides of the leaves of this medium size aloe are covered in short spines.  Each spine has a whitish tubercle at the base making them more obvious and  giving the plant a rough thorny appearance.

The plants are single with an attractive blue-green colored rosette.  The raceme is long and the flowers shade from dark orange/red to a pale orange or yellow when the flowers open.  Aloe aculeata grows easy from seeds

Aloe aculeata need stones in the soil for good drainage.  Large stones or a garden wall will protect it from frost.
