Finally we found one wild Aloe claviflora trampled and without a flower, in the nature park. There will be more in the inaccessible mountains of this large nature park but like all plants growing in arid conditions they are not in abundance in any one place.

Aloe claviflora. The photo below was taken at the gate.  There the aloes are protected from the animals and to an extend from humans.  Blooming time is nearly over.   The raceme of this aloe grows sideways.

Photo above is Aloe broomii.  The densely flowered thick large raceme has a unique beauty against the arid background.  Rainfall in Beaufort West is in the summer.   It is now springtime so that it has been some months without rain and the veld in the background is very dry.

We did not find our aloe scene but we did see some lovely aloes in the nature park's small gardens and we enjoyed the short visit to the National Park at Beaufort West very much.

He has the right of way on the roads.  Very clever - he knows which side of the road is for walking

Goodbye to you, BigGuy.
