About us, Samoa Gems and our Kittens & Cats

We are Rudi and Eurica Teichmann from Moorreesburg 100 km north of Cape Town.  Cats have been a part of our lives as far back as we can remember but we started breeding cats the beginning of 1990.  We love our cat-children and we hope that the kittens will bring joy and warmth in your lives too.
Our catery is Samoa Gems.  Moorreesburg was known as Samoa by the early residents  and it fitted in very well with our first  Siamese and Oriental cats.

  Winter

  Summer

No,   I did not make a mistake with the seasons....     Moorreesburg falls in the winter  rainfall area, resulting in mild green winters and dry hot summers.   The snow covered  mountains in the background (photo above left) are much further inland,  the temperature never drops to  freezing point in Moorreesburg.
