A succulent garden can be designed to be interesting and colorful with aloes only, but a few hardy colorful blooming plants can change the image and atmosphere of the garden completely.  Aloes differ in the shape and color of the rosette and in the shape and color of the flowers on the racemes. Here are photos of garden designs.
Lawns have been replaced by pebbles and stones of different colors and textures in many gardens as a result of the water restrictions of the past few years.  It is refreshing to see something new in garden design and the saving of water is a priority in many countries.

Below:-  photos of gardens designed for aloes and hardy flowers.   Click on the photos to enlarge for a better view of the plants.

The two photos above are different areas in the same garden   A combination of aloes, flowering plants and containers were used to create a luxurious water saving garden.
Photo below Aloes blend in very well with the hardy plants.  Different texture stones enhance this flower and aloes garden.

The colors of the mesemb flowers are bright and fresh.   Mesembs can turn a succulent garden into a fiasco of colors.  The pretty little bugs are necessary for pollination.  They feed on nectar and pollen  very much the same as bees and do not harm the flowers.
