| The perfectly balanced neat rosette of aloes fit very well into a
formal garden. Aloes can be planted with near to any garden plant in the garden and
the shade loving aloes species/hybrids will grow under trees where other plants will have
difficulty to compete with trees. |
| Designing this garden can be a challenge. Knowledge
of the basic needs of the succulents is essential, for example there are succulents
that need full sun and many succulents grow under bushes thus they need shade. Keep
drainage in mind. |
| The water shortage in South Africa brought the attention of landscapers
and garden designers on aloes which became popular landscape plants for the water saving
garden. Landscapers in other countries will find aloes worthwhile if given a chance.

| Aloes and succulents seem to fit into any design as here with a wooden bridge
. |
| Succulents grow without problem under most
trees, provided they get enough light. |
