| How to build a rock garden in a very small space. A high narrow planted rock-wall ideal for a small garden but it can also be a focal point in a large rock garden. This one is for our pending aloes, but many other aloes and succulents growing very well on this wall. The rock garden has many spaces for small succulent plants and or flowering plants like impatience and begonias, amongst the rocks. | |

How to create a rock garden |

| A natural rock garden. |
| No need for digging or turning the soil but clean the area from weeds. |
| You will need:- a truckload of old manure. If there are no farms nearby get mushroom manure from the mushroom cultivators or from the nursery. |
| A few truckloads of boulders - or imitation boulders from the nursery. |
| At least enough coarse sand to cover the manure, more is better than too little. |
| Spread the manure and add extra coarse sand for drainage, dump the boulders on it. Cover any visible manure with sand. |
| Bring in the plants! |
