Aloe aculeata  from South Africa - with photos

Both side of the leaves of this medium size blue aloe are covered in short spines on a tuberculate base giving it a rough thorny appearance.

Aloe aculeata grows easy from seeds.  The plants are single with an attractive blue coloured rosette.  The raceme is long and the flowers shade from dark orange/red to a pale orange or yellow when the flowers open.

Aloe aculeata prefer to grow on stones for good drainage.  Large stones or a garden wall will protect it from frost.
