The Mesembryanthemaceae(known as mesembs) have more than 1000 species.    Mesembs come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, but most have colorful flowers, a very good choice for color.  The plants species vary in shape and size from large or small bushes, crawling, trailing or clumps something to fit into any space.
Here are a few caudiciform plants and succulent plants with colorful flowers or interesting leaves, which have the same needs as the aloes in the water saving garden.

There are many other succulent and caudiciform plants that are excellent companions in the aloe water saving garden.
The aloe and succulent garden is easy to care for.  Good drainage is essential; as is - humus, basic soil, and old manure.

Some easy going  mesembs.   These plants are all drought resistant like the aloes.  The mesembs are delightful when in bloom and come in a wide variaty plant shapes, colors and sizes.
