Aloe Affinis (South Africa)
Aloe affinis is a large maculate aloe from the summer rainfall area.  This succulent plant did not grow well in our very dry summer with winter rainfall.  It seems necessary for this aloe to be watered in summer.
Aloe affinis is an impressive plant for a maculate aloe in both the rosette and the raceme.     The rosette is variable in color as can be seen in the two plants on the photo.
The second and third  inflorescence are visible in the plant on the photo left.  The racemes keep on growing.  Flowers opening at the top and seeds forming below.  The flowers are coral pink.    The raceme stopped growing at 90cm (3 feet)
Aloe affinis do not make offshoots or suckers.

Aloes are succulent plants, also known as fatplants.  They can be grown as a houseplant or as a potted plant in the garden or greenhouse.
