Aloe Affinis (South Africa)
Aloe affinis is a large maculate succulent aloe  from the summer rainfall area.  It went through a very dry summer in our winter rainfall area but the plant received some watering.   It seems necessary for this aloe te receive water in summer.
This is an impressive plant for a maculate aloe -  in both the rosette and the raceme.   Aloe affinis do not make offshoots or suckers and it is variable in color.  As can be seen in the two plants on the photo.
The second and third  inflorescence are visible in the plant on the photo left. The racemes keep on growing.  Flowers opening at the top and seeds forming below.  The flowers are coral pink.
The raceme stopped growing at 90cm (3 feet)

Aloes are succulent plants, also known as fatplants.  They can be grown as a houseplant or as a potplant in the garden or greenhouse.
