| Aloe cryptopoda is a stemless suculent aloe plant with a large neat dense rosette, ideal for the water saving garden. | |
| This aloe is usually a solitary plant. The long leaves of Aloe cryptopoda have margins of fine dark brown teeth. | |
| The flowers of Aloe cryptopoda ripen slowly and remain for a long time on the raceme. It is the longest flowering aloe in our garden. Flowering starts in late autumn/early winter. The color of the flowers vary from dark red to yellow. | |
| The cone shaped raceme of Aloe cryptopoda is large and the color of the flowers can be solid or bi-color. | |

| This aloe resembles A. lutescens. The main difference for the layman is the long slender raceme of A.lutescens and unlike most cryptopoda plants, Aloe lutescens forms offsets. | |
