birds in the garden

It is easy to convince birds to visit or stay in the garden and by catering different menus, a variety of  birds will be attracted.

Plant shrubs with edible berries, preferably endemic to your region and fruit trees like the fig, if your climate allows it.
Cut any fruit open and place it on a feeding dish or stick into a sharp spike.
An orange cut open will be enjoyed by most birds, even if they are not fruit eaters.
The seed eating birds will need a feeding tray .
In winter the seeds can be set into hard fat which will give extra energy to the birds.
recipe:-  melt the hard fat and let it cool but not completely.   Then stir in the bird seeds and leave to cool.

All birds would appreciate a water dish.

Place water dish or feeders in an open area where the birds can see the cat.
You may build a small hut for yourself  to sit and watch your birds without them being aware that you are present.
Bird watching is a nice hobby for the family.
