Aloe striata subsp karasbergensis

An impressive heavy stemless aloe with smooth edges on the leaves

This  aloe  is decorative as a garden plant , a houseplant or as a potplant

Aloe s. subsp. karasbergensis forms groups from suckers at the base of the plants.
It can withstand very hot summers as well as frost, provided it is kept dry when it freezes.
The leaves of Aloe s. karasbergensis are pale blue-green,   with a pink cast in full sun.
The inflorescens branch and rebranch to form many racemes with dark pink to red flowers.
Aloe s. karasbergensis needs very little water.  In extreme conditions where it gets too much water the leaves may burst open and the plant will rot.
It is not a very difficult aloe to grow in the garden.   Given good drainage it is easy to keep this plant as a potted plant, which is recommended for areas with high rainfall.
