Aloe khamiesensis

The habitat of Aloe khamiesensis is the very arid Northern Cape Province of South Africa.

Plant this aloe on top of stones in the garden.  It is also ideal for a container in a sunny place out of direct rain.  Where there is high rainfall it can be planted in the container or pot with a lot of large stones for fast drainage.  We have success with the desert or semi-desert aloes in pots rather than in the ground.  A decorative container will add to the beauty of the garden just make sure that the drainage holes will not become blocked.

Aloe khamiesensis is frost resistant for short periods. That is -  a few hours overnight frost will not kill the plant if the day temperatures warm up to above freezing.

The red color will change to green in shade or if the plant is watered often.  The plant needs full sun and the minimum water to enhance the red color in summer.  It grows in the winter rainfall area.  In winter the plant will be dark green to olive green.  It is important to grow this aloe with the minimum water.
