Aloe lutescens  (South Africa)

Aloe lutescens has a dense rosette of long  green leaves.
This aloe's  rosette with the recurving tips is attrative standing alone, but in a group the display of the long slender bright red flowers are even more striking.  
Aloe lutescens is a stemless aloe. 
The raceme of Aloe lutescens is long and slender with bright deep red flowers opening to yellow.
This succulent aloe makes offshoots forming a dense group.
Flowering time is mid winter.  The dull green leaves fade in strong sun to a pale yellow green.
Aloes are succulent plants, also known as fatplants. Given the right conditions they can be grown as a houseplant or as a potplant in the garden or greenhouse.

lutescens means "turning yellow". As they open, the flowers turn yellow.
