Aloe rupestris    (South Africa)

Aloe rupestris is a fast growing single stemmed tree aloe with very showy flowers.

Aloe rupetris has a wide distribution in the summer rainfall area of South Africa.
This popular hardy, easy aloe has been planted as far south as Cape Town,
and it grows very well in the winter rain climate, with dry hot summers in the Boland.
Aloes are succulent plants, also known as fatplants. These plants save water and given the right conditions they can be grown as a houseplant or as a potplant in the garden or greenhouse.

Aloe.rupestri.2large.jpg (24146 bytes) We bought these two plants after the wind blew them over on a farm.   The owner started to chop the  leaves off (the one to the right), to make it easier to chop the aloe in pieces.

The aloe on the left is 3,5 meter long and the aloe on the right is 3 meter long.

They are magnificent in our eyes - even with their crutches
