Aloe esculenta from northern Namibia

Aloe esculenta resemble Aloe littoralis except that it has not stem

Aloe esculenta grows very easy in the garden.  The habitat of this aloe starts in the northern region of Namibia, extending further north in the central parts of southern Africa  where the rainfall is much higher than in  Namibia.

The Aloe esculenta rosette grows roughly to 80 - 100 cm wide and just over a metre high. The leaves are spotted on both sides and the bright green shading to blue-green leaves shows off very well in the garden.   Aloe esculenta does not send out offshoots but the plants  form a group of rosettes growing close together from the main stem.   The flowers are pale pink with a faint striped orange and green pattern, laxly spaced over the long raceme.   The display is impressive when the group is in flower.
